ScareBnB – Halloween Vacation Rentals

Workshop | Group of 3 | 2 hours

Paging all ghouls, ghosts, and goblins, there’s a new Halloween website, and it’s spooktacular!

ScareBnB is your one stop shop for all things scary and spooky. For one month only, find the best haunted houses, experience hauntings, and visit ghostly graveyards.

This AirBnB parody started with one simple idea – I really wanted to make a Halloween UI that used a pumpkin button. I rallied my team with a promise of Halloween fun, and they answered my call.

After some brainstorming, we had the idea to create a getaway and experience booking platform. We picked a moody color palette, with bright accents of orange which worked perfectly for my pumpkin button agenda. We looked at a few different vacation websites and nailed down the structure of our landing page – a large hero image with an easily accessible search bar, then some featured listings below. Then we split up the page into sections for us to work on, and brought it all together at the end.

This was a fun project, and I firmly believe that as designers we must allow ourselves room to mess around with random ideas like pumpkin buttons. Creativity is a fickle beast, and when inspiration strikes we should dance to the beat of its drum.
