Sleigh Dash – Santa’s Dashboard
Workshop | Group of 3 | 2 hours
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be Santa? Imagine, the dead of night on Christmas eve, millions of excited children waiting for you to gift them exactly what they asked for, all in one night with nobody but your trusty reindeer for company. Sounds pretty stressful right? Introducing Sleigh Dash – a state of the art dashboard for Santa’s sleigh.
For a bit of festive fun, my team created this UI concept – a dashboard that Santa would use while delivering his gifts. It was an interesting change of pace from our normal work – this app would only have one user, and a very narrow use case. Nevertheless, we brainstormed ideas of what this app could do and sketched a quick layout idea in FigJam.
We decided the app would be centralized around the map, since Santa needs to cover a lot of ground in one day. The map would feature all stops he needs to make, as well as optimized routes for him to take. There would also be a sidebar to outline the details of any given stop – the kid(s), their letter, their gift requests etc. We also included a reindeer status widget which shows the mood of each reindeer, a Santa’s Sack widget which shows overall progress of gift deliveries, and live messaging from Mrs. Claus. FInally, we included weather alerts for any unexpected flurries Santa may encounter enroute.
Fear not, Santa! The UX team is coming to town, and they are bringing you your very own Christmas present.
